Product Description Solid wood panels (1-layer hardwood glue boards):

Our LARBON Solid wood panels / glued panels are made of logs from the best growing areas. Before processing the lumber is dried thoroughly technically. After cutting the fins they are color-sorted and sorted correctly with respect to the plate producing qualities. Naturally occurring variations in color and texture, due to the growth of the tree and the cutting direction of the cut wood, but can not be excluded. Solid wood panels still have the natural features and character of solid wood, however, the swelling and shrinkage, warping and bowls can be reduced through proper and careful gluing. Nevertheless, temperature and humidity fluctuations can lead to the above reactions as natural properties of wood.

All of our solid wood panels exceed the necessary requirements of the European standards DIN EN 13353 (technical requirements) and EN 13017-2 (optical classes) significantly.

Types of Solid wood panels / glue boards:

Finger-jointed panels (FJ)
- Finger jointed lamellas in length
- Standard stave widths 40mm or "Fine Line" 20mm
- Reach lengths of up to 6m
- Textured surface
- Favorable, as better utilization of raw materials

Throughgoing lamellas (EGP)
- long lamellas edge glued panels
- without finger-joinings in length
- Quality crafted optics
- To achieve any long lengths
- random stave widths 40-100mm or fix widths

Utilization:

Furniture tops, table tops, kitchen countertops, worktops, stair treads plates and cheek plates, Construction plates, shelves, Door casings and frames, window sills

Characteristics of the wood:

It can be seen that for decades naturally grown wood at the interesting colors and variety of individual grain. Adhesions and knots are typical features that highlight the natural beauty of high-quality wood. The natural and artificial wood drying also affects the natural color of the wood. Also the season of the incision in the forest as well as the storage affect the color of the wood. After the surface treatment, there may be color variations. Solid wood panels are hygroscopic and absorb moisture from the air and release it from again. This leads to the "work" as described effect of swelling and shrinkage. Solid wood panels are natural products.Their inherent characteristics, differences and characteristics are therefore always be observed. In particular, the biological, physical and chemical properties of the wood on the purchase and use are taken into account. The range of natural color, texture and other differences within a species is one of the characteristics of natural wood product and does not constitute a reason for complaints and liability.

Wood moisture contend m.c.:

Production at the end of the wood moisture content is about 8 + / - 2%, which corresponds to the equilibrium moisture content for use in enclosed spaces with a healthy indoor climate of 20 ° C / 55% humidity.

Gluing / Formaldehyde:

All solid wood panels are glued with tested German brand glues (eg Jowatt, Kleiberit) stress classes of D3 and D4 acc. DIN / EN 204, glued formaldehyde. Applications for these PVAc glues (= white glues) are internal areas with frequent short-term exposure to running or condensed water and / or exposure to high humidity. And outdoor areas, but protected from the weather. The proportion of glue in solid wood panels with only about 0.1%. The PVA glues used not give off formaldehyde (chipboard, however, are mostly formaldehyde resin bound and have a glue proportion of up to 10%).

How much formaldehyde comes from natural wood?
It is true also of natural wood can release formaldehyde, particularly in the industrial drying by thermolysis (splitting) of the lignin produced. The formaldehyde content of naturally grown timber is very low. Most of the material characteristic values ??are in a range that can not be safely detected by routine analysis. The emissions exceed one-tenth of the E1 limit or lie partly also in the routine analysis no longer accessible area. The values ??given in the literature for formaldehyde release of naturally grown wood in the test chamber according to DIN V ENV 717-1 between 0.009 to 0.002 ppm for oak and beech at. The E1 quality is currently the legally permissible minimum standard. A concentration of 0.1 ppm should not be exceeded in a test chamber in which the air in the hour once fully exchanged (air exchange rate: 1 / h).

Conclusion: solid wood therefore makes no significant contribution to formaldehyde pollution in indoor environments.

Storage:

During transport or storage of solid wood panels, it can lead to moisture absorption.During storage and processing is therefore essential to ensure a uniform climate. It should be stored in closed, not be too dry or too humid areas. The solid wood panels should be covered and just be fully supported. Note that the shrinkage and swelling capacity is about 0.6% per 1% change in moisture content. Before further processing of solid wood panels, therefore, is to recommend an air-conditioning on the appropriate use of moisture.

Surfaces:

All solid wood panels are sanded with 100 grit or 120 on request. This makes it possible to lubricate the plates depending on the desire to grow or paint. The top and bottom should generally have the same surface structure to avoid a possible default. Pre-oiled boards are available on request.
